Senior Portraits That Make a Lasting Impression

Hello Principals, Administrators, Yearbook Advisers, and School Staff,

I'm Michael Negrete, a photographer with over 40 years of experience. My career began on my high school yearbook staff and eventually led to an associate's degree in photography from Chaffey College. I spent a decade assisting on commercial and celebrity shoots before opening my own studio in Claremont over 25 years ago. I also hold a business degree from the University of La Verne and am a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).

Today, I photograph seniors for local high schools, K-8 private schools, youth organizations, and families both in the studio and on location. With my background in yearbook photography and decades of experience working with students and families, I understand that senior portraits are about more than simply taking a good picture. They are an important part of a student's final year and a lasting record of your school's graduating class.

We understand that coordinating senior portraits can be a significant undertaking for schools. Between communicating with families, coordinating schedules, meeting yearbook requirements, and keeping everything on track, there are a lot of moving pieces. Our goal is to make the process organized, straightforward, and as stress-free as possible for your staff.

What We Bring to Your School

#1: An Organized and Efficient Process
We understand the importance of keeping senior portraits on schedule while accommodating the needs of your students and staff. We work with your school to establish a clear process for scheduling, photography, and yearbook image delivery.

#2: Consistent, Professional Portraits
Every student deserves a portrait they can be proud of. We provide polished, professional images that create a cohesive look for your yearbook while still allowing each student's personality to come through.

#3: Clear Communication
A successful senior portrait program depends on communication between the school, photographer, students, and families. We strive to make expectations, scheduling, requirements, and important deadlines clear from the beginning.

#4: A Positive Student Experience
Senior portraits are an important milestone. We want students to feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely enjoy their time in front of the camera. Our approach combines a professional studio experience with a relaxed and welcoming environment.

#5: A Photography Partner, Not Just a Vendor
We believe the best school photography programs are built through collaboration. We take the time to understand your school's needs, yearbook requirements, traditions, and expectations so we can create a process that works for your community.

Built Around Your School

Every school has its own schedule, traditions, and expectations for senior portraits. That's why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Whether your school needs traditional yearbook portraits, cap-and-gown photography, personalized senior sessions, or a combination of services, we can work with your staff to develop a process that fits your needs.

Our goal is simple: to provide your students with portraits they are proud to share, families with photographs they will treasure, and your staff with a photography process that is organized and dependable.

We don't want to be just another "vendor." We want to become a trusted photography partner for your school and help make senior portraits a positive part of the graduating-class experience.

Let's Make Your Next Senior Class One to Remember.

If you're looking for a senior portrait photographer for your school, we'd love to learn more about your program, answer your questions, and discuss how we can support your students, families, and yearbook staff.

Over the years, we’ve developed a new approach that involves photographing each athlete against a white backlit background, allowing us to extract their images easily and arrange each player into a group formation for a seamless virtual team portrait.

Pros:

  • Individual Attention: Each senior gets dedicated time in front of the camera, allowing us to focus on flattering lighting, natural expressions, and a portrait that feels like them.

  • A More Personalized Experience: Seniors can have a little more flexibility in their portraits, allowing their personality and style to come through while still creating a professional image suitable for the yearbook.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Seniors who are absent, sick, or unavailable on the scheduled picture day can be photographed at another time, helping ensure every student has the opportunity to be included.

  • Consistent Yearbook Portraits: Professional lighting and a controlled studio environment create a cohesive look across the graduating class while still giving each student an individual portrait.

  • Less Disruption to School: An organized portrait schedule helps minimize time away from classrooms and keeps the process moving efficiently for students and staff.

  • A Better Student Experience: Senior portraits are an important milestone. We want students to feel comfortable, confident, and excited about the images they receive.

Cons:

  • More Time Per Student: Giving each senior individual attention takes more time than a quick traditional yearbook headshot. In return, students receive a more intentional and polished portrait experience.

  • Traditional Yearbook Photos: We understand that schools may have specific yearbook requirements or prefer a classic, uniform look. We're happy to work within your school's guidelines to ensure the final images meet those requirements.

  • Scheduling Requires Coordination: Senior portraits involve coordinating students, school staff, and families. We work with your school to establish a clear process and keep scheduling as simple and organized as possible.
